The green discoloration of the water in this pond is due to the growth of algae. This is sometimes called an "Algal Bloom". The old ways of doing things pose a health risk to the public, and we know some relatively inexpensive solutions for correcting these kinds of problems. The water from this pond drains into the Soque River Basin, so every water treatment plant downstream of this site will cost more to operate because of the feces and urine and parasites cattle add to the water here. That's why this has been made illegal. There are easy and inexpensive ways to deal with this.. please contact us.

This is a portion of a "Petri dish" used to test for coliform and E. coli bacteria. The blue spots are caused by the growth of E. coli bacteria that were present in the water sample when it was taken. This method allows us to see individual colonies and count how many bacteria were in the original sample. The pink area is the result of coliform bacteria contamination.
