These are the tests you need to properly design a filtration / treatment system for your home. You get the testing, we will help you design the system!!! This is much cheaper than installing a system you don't need or treating a single illness you could develop!!! Call us NOW at 706-892-6036
Descriptions of Tests A: The Coliform test is recommended by the EPA to be done at least on an annual basis. It is the only way, other than becoming ill, that an individual has warning that fecal material is contaminating their drinking water supply. Our test includes a test for Total Coliforms and Fecal Coliforms (E. coli) and determines the number of Coliforms or E. coli organisms found, if they are there. B: Basic Chemical Rapid Screen: This group of tests is designed to provide information about the likelihood that chemical contamination is entering your drinking water. Today chemical contamination is as important to detect as fecal contamination. This group of tests includes: A visual and a microscopic examination by an experienced professional microbiologist (not available from any Local Government Agency because they do not have qualified experts that can identify problems and interpret the results); Temperature; Conductivity; Nitrate; pH; Total Dissolved Solids; Color; Turbidity (Many companies will charge over $100.00 for this test alone!); Arsenic Screen (others charge $50.00 or more; this is a common residual from pesticides and often found in groundwater in different areas in the country); Free Chlorine; Total Chlorine; Total Hardness - T-strip; Total Alkalinity - T-strip; Iron C: Mineral and Metals Analysis by ICP: This test is performed using extremely sensitive instrumentation that can detect very low levels of chemicals and it gives specific results for minerals and certain metals which may be toxic at elevated levels. This will include tests for Phosphorus, Potassium, Calcium, Magnesium, Manganese, Iron, Aluminum, Boron, Copper, Zinc, Sodium, Cadmium, Nitrogen, Chromium, Molybdenum, (P, K, Ca, Mg, Mn, Fe, Al, B, Cu, Zn, Na, Cd, N, Cr, Mo) D: Anion Analysis by ICP: This test is performed using extremely sensitive instrumentation and gives results that are needed to determine values for the individual parameters and the likelihood of contamination from an intruding water source or human activities. It includes Chloride, Fluoride, Phosphate, Sulfate. E: The Microscopic Analysis is not available from any other labs because they lack qualified personnel.
We agree with the government recommendations which suggest the following minimum for all well owners: Perform the Coliform, Fecal Coliform (E. coli), Basic Chemical Rapid Screen plus Mineral and Anion Analyses initially to establish baseline values for all constituents and determine whether or not there is any significant contamination. (Large public systems are required to test several or more times a day to insure water quality. Testing your own system just once seems a small price to have some idea of whether or not your water is safe, AND can save you the cost of bottled water if the results show no contaminants) Perform EPA Suggested Bacterial and Chemical tests: including the coliform, Fecal coliform (E. coli), and Basic Chemical Screen at least once a year after the initial testing. This test is designed to detect significant changes in water quality without measuring each individual parameter, but it is still important to periodically repeat the full CAES mineral and anion analyses since individual parameters can change dramatically as a result of water usage and changing underground water flow and other activities as far as hundreds of miles from your well.
